Ocean exploration adds another weapon, deep-sea scientific research sensing equipment test is successful

The ocean occupies more than 70% of the earth's surface area, but humans still know very little about the vast and deep ocean, especially the deep sea. With the development of science and technology, human beings' understanding of the ocean is constantly accelerating. More and more deep-sea exploration equipment has entered the deep sea for exploration, uncovering the mystery of the deep ocean for mankind.
The deep sea is the least understood area by humans. Deep sea research is of great significance to understanding the ocean and developing and utilizing it. It is also an important part of my country's strategy of building a maritime power. Our country has made many achievements in deep-sea research, and new marine scientific research equipment is constantly emerging, such as the "Jiaolong", deep-sea in-situ Raman spectroscopy probes, and the "Sea Wing" series of underwater gliders. These advanced marine scientific research equipment have brought a large amount of deep-sea environmental data and provided favorable equipment support for my country's deep-sea research.
Recently, new results have appeared in my country’s deep-sea research equipment. The first sea trial mission of the deep-sea high-performance sensing and detection equipment specially developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021 was successfully completed. In this sea trial, a total of 17 pieces of ocean detection equipment independently developed by my country were carried into the deep sea by the "Deep Sea Warrior" manned submersible to collect data.
The 17 pieces of equipment include deep-sea methane/carbon dioxide spectrum analyzer, my country’s first deep-sea MEMS gas chromatograph, and my country’s first deep-sea nuclear radiation detector (CZT/crystal type gamma spectrometer instrument), deep-sea bottom biogeochemical in-situ experimental system and in-situ microbial filtration system. After the dive, important data such as dissolved methane/carbon dioxide concentration, nearly 20 low-molecular-weight hydrocarbon gas components, and gamma radionuclides were obtained in situ. An in-situ isotope tracing experiment on methane oxidation rate was also carried out.
Our country attaches great importance to the research and development and technological breakthroughs of ocean exploration equipment and instrument-mounted platforms such as manned submersibles. At present, our country is already at the forefront of the world in deep-sea exploration. The "Struggle" has set a new record for China's manned deep dive of 10,909 meters, and has the ability to explore the Mariana Trench, the "fourth pole of the earth." The successful sea trial of this high-performance deep-sea sensing and detection equipment will add another weapon to my country's deep-sea exploration, help our country explore the deep sea more deeply, and promote our country's efforts to build a maritime power.
